Queensland Mental Health Week promotes individual and community mental health and wellbeing, boosts awareness of mental illness, stigma and discrimination and celebrates the contribution of the mental health and community sectors. The message of Queensland Mental Health Week 2019 is to value mental health, because our mental health is extremely valuable.
The Biloela ACQ Team along with many other organisations participated in a morning at Melton Park in Biloela to mark Qld Mental Health Week. (Image from the event above)
The Mental Health Week festivities were also in full swing at the Rockhampton Riverside with stalls galore from all the providers in the region. This year Rockhampton ACQ’s stall was called “Let’s Chalk about Mental Health.” It was where our wellbeing facilitator, Paula, guided people to take to the streets with Chalk graffiti so they could share support and encouragement via words or drawings. It was about inspiring others or be inspired by the messages people bravely shared.
We also hosted an Abstract Painting activity where as participants walked by they added to a blank canvas, by the end of the day we had a completed piece of art which we will hang in the Anglicare Wellbeing Area.
