International Tenant’s Day

DATE: 4 October
DETAILS: On this day throughout the world housing and tenancy issues are promoted and expounded. Issues such as rights for tenants, affordable rental, and tenant participation in all matters related to housing highlight the universality of tenancy.
Each year, events are held across the globe to mark International Tenants’ Day and act as a prompt to tenants to be aware of their rights and for the wider community to be aware of tenancy issues.

Mental Health Week

DATE: 9-17 October
DETAILS: Take Time for Mental Health. Mental Health Week is an annual national awareness event held every year to coincide with World Mental Health Day, which is held on 10 October each year. Mental Health Week aims to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and wellbeing in the wider community, to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and offers a platform to engage the community in dialogue regarding help-seeking behaviours and mental health promotion.

National Carer’s Week

DATE: 10-16 October
DETAILS: This year’s theme is ‘Millions of Reasons to Care’ which aims to bring attention to the 2.65 million carers around the country who provide outstanding care and support to their loved ones. National Carer’s Week is an opportunity to raise community awareness about the diversity of carers and their caring roles, to show appreciation and learn about carers and caring in Australia. Carers make an enormous contribution to our communities as well as our national economy. Should all carers decide to stop performing their caring role, it would cost the country $60.3 billion per year to replace those supports.

White Ribbon Day

DETAILS: White Ribbon is Australia’s only national, male led Campaign to end men’s violence against women. White Ribbon Australia observes the International Day of the Elimination of Violence against Women, also known as White Ribbon Day, annually on November 25. White Ribbon Day signals the start of the 16 Days of Activism to Stop Violence against Women, which ends on Human Rights Day (December 10).
