Gift Wrapping kicks off at City Centre Plaza

Wrapping Christmas presents – it’s on nearly everyone’s to-do list at this time of year, and you either love it or loathe it.

If you fall into the second category and the mere thought of having to wrap your pile of gifts makes you cringe; head into City Centre Plaza this Christmas to have your gifts wrapped in support of Anglicare Central Queensland.

Christmas is usually a special and happy occasion, but for many people in our local community who may be dealing with financial crisis, family breakdown, disability, or social isolation, it can also be one of the toughest times of the year.

Throughout the year, Anglicare Central Queensland provides ongoing emergency food relief and support to individuals and families who may be experiencing hardship. However, at Christmas, there is often a greater demand to assist families who find themselves in challenging situations.

Anglicare Central Queensland CEO, Suzie Christensen explains the organisation’s ‘Christmas rush’ towards the end of the year.

“At this time of year our organisation sees an increase of families or individuals coming to us for assistance because they have no money or no place to go,” said Ms Christensen.

“Christmas is often the last straw for those who are struggling, and that’s why they turn to us for support.”

Every year, City Centre Plaza gift wrapping helps to brighten the lives of local families facing adversity and provide hope to those needing it the most.

City Centre Plaza Manager (insert name) said that projects such as gift wrapping are invaluable because they give local people a way to contribute to their fellow Central Queenslanders in need.

“For over 15 years, City Centre Plaza has worked with Anglicare Central Queensland to raise funds through gift wrapping to provide a caring hand for those who are struggling to put food on the table and keep a roof over their family’s heads – let along put presents under the tree,” said (insert name).

Gift wrapping will commence at City Centre Plaza (outside Target) on 27th November and run right throughout the month of December.

All gift wrappers are volunteers who kindly give up their time to offer this service which supports their local community.

Anglicare Central Queensland and City Centre Plaza encourage the Rockhampton community to get behind the gift wrapping service and choose this year as the year you truly embody the real meaning of Christmas.
